Pokrajac General Engineering Contractors
General Engineering Contractor · Est. 1984

We move the dirt everything else stands on.

Excavation, grading, utilities and paving — self-performed with our own crews, our own 142 machines, and our own lowbeds.

1984 Founded — four decades, still family owned
142 Machines owned outright, none of it rented
No cap Nevada bid limit is unlimited — no ceiling on project size
NV+CA Licensed Class A General Engineering in both states
Why self-perform matters

We own the iron, so the schedule is ours to keep.

Do you want a contractor with strong resources that self-performs, or one who has to rent everything whenever it becomes available from a rental company?

— Pokrajac Corporation

When a client hit a permit conflict that threatened their start date, we mobilized inside 24 hours — because the machines and the lowbed service were already ours. A rental queue cannot do that.

It also means we put the right machine on the problem instead of the available one. On a Riverside job we deep-ripped bedrock with large track dozers rather than drilling and blasting, keeping crews working alongside a standing tilt-up and saving the client weeks.

The crew

Every morning starts the same way.

Tailgate meeting, hazards on the table, then work. Safety has been our first concern for our employees and our customers since 1984 — and it is the reason clients let us work beside live operations.

What we do

One contractor, the whole dirt package.

From the first cut to finished subgrade and paving — with the utilities in between, so there is no gap between trades to argue over.

Mass excavation

Earthwork at scale

Cut and fill, overexcavation, deep ripping, rock breaking, import and export. Scraper spreads for volume, excavators for precision.

Finish grading

Grade you can build on

Building pads, subgrade and finish grade held to the tolerances your structural and civil drawings call for.

Underground utilities

Wet and dry systems

Storm drain, sewer, water and dry utility trenching — installed by the same crews that graded the site.

Paving

Base and asphalt

Aggregate base, asphalt and site concrete — parking fields, drive aisles, streets and off-load facilities.

Site structures

Walls and drainage

Rockery and retaining walls, rip rap, channels and cast-in-place storm drain extensions.

Site preparation

Clearing and demolition

Demolition, clearing and grubbing, erosion control and SWPPP compliance from mobilization through close-out.

Equipment

Whatever the job calls for is already in the yard.

Scrapers, dozers, excavators, loaders, graders and water trucks, plus the lowbeds to move them. When a job needs a particular machine, it comes off our own yard the week it is needed.

What the work actually looks like.

An excavator, a dozer, scrapers and an articulated hauler all working one mass grade below the Nevada hills.

Crew setting a precast structure at the bottom of a shored trench, with forced-air ventilation ducting run down to them.
A finished cast-in-place concrete drainage channel, with an excavator working above the wall.
Crew setting conduit and pipe in an open joint trench.
